by Nick Kennedy - FPCUG guest speaker - July 2001
Nick Kennedy will be demonstrating the features of Iomega's Foto-Show at the July 12 General Meeting. If you like taking pictures, you'll love seeing what the Foto-Show can do. It can act as a portable ZIP drive on your computer but it can do much more than that.
For instance, if you have a digital camera, you know how expensive the flash memory cards are. But with Foto-Show, you can copy your pictures to an inexpensive ZIP disk, clean off your flash card and keep shooting. There's even a power adapter that you can use in your car, so you can transfer pictures to the Foto-Show while you're moving around.
At night, when you're back in your hotel/motel room, connect the Foto-Show to your TV, and see the pictures you took that day. Using your Foto-Show remote control, you can even edit, crop and enhance your photos right there on your TV.
When you get home, you can hook your Foto-Show up to your computer, and send your pictures to your friends via email. And when your Foto-Show is connected to your computer, you can use it to back up your computer, using either 100 or 250 megabyte ZIP disks.
Even if you don't have a digital camera, you can get CD containing digital images when you get your pictures developed, or you can scan pictures you already have, then put them on a ZIP disk and use the Foto-Show to show them on your TV.
Iomega sells the Foto-Show for $249, but you can buy it for less than $200 one of the vendors listed at www.pricegrabber.com.
Before you buy, though, come on out to the monthly General Meeting of the Fredericksburg PC Users Group on Thursday, July 12, to let Nick show you the features of this exciting product.
